A 37-year-old woman from Greentop, Missouri, is dead, the victim of a collision between a pickup truck and a tractor-trailer. The truck accident occurred earlier this month, and there are still questions remaining about the cause.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 38-year-old man from Greentop was driving the pickup truck, which the deceased was riding in. As the two traveled east on Highway W in Queen City, Missouri, they approached U.S. Highway 63.

Just before the accident, a tractor-trailer driven by a 57-year-old man from Macon, Missouri, was heading north on U.S. 63. Early reports from a family member suggested that the pickup driver stopped and looked both ways and did not see any vehicles coming before pulling onto U.S 63.

The investigation conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol said differently, however. According to authorities, the 38-year-old driver failed to stop at the intersection and collided with the side of the tractor-trailer.

The pickup driver sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was transported to Northeast Regional Medical Center. His female passenger died from internal injuries after being rushed to the hospital, according to a family member. It is not known if the tractor-trailer driver sustained any injuries.

Police have not filed any charges as of yet. The relationship between the pickup driver and passenger is also unknown.

With conflicting accounts about the accident, it is probably best for the woman's family to wait until police finish their investigation before proceeding with any wrongful death lawsuits. But one thing is for certain, the woman did not have to die, and someone else should be held accountable.
